What You Need To Know About

HeaderGenerator Software

Let's talk about Software Technology That Lets You Make Professional Grade Headers and Banners For Your Websites

Why Would You Ever Want A Header Making Program?

Before I answer that question let's understand one thing about headers: they are little billboards that advertise your web page. Pure and Simple!

What you want in the header is a powerful headline to grab the attention of prospects, clients and surfers. It's usually the first thing  visitors see when they stumble across your page.

If you want your billboard to perform multiple tasks you can also mention the name of your website and you can include links for people to click to your order page right from the header or to go to a "frequently asked questions" (FAQs) page or other destinations.

The reason you want the header is to catch the attention of your visitors and help them slip down through your eCommerce sales letter page, as though they were sliding down a slippery slide, right down to the order button.

Face it, when you start writing an eCommerce salesletter page you begin with a blank page and that blank page isn't going to sell or do anything for your sales. So the first step is to create a powerful headline and you display that headline in your site's little billboard...The Header!

Let's look at this tool called: The HeaderGenerator

It's an easy to use program for making graphic headers for your eCommerce websites.

I created the header at the top of this page using "HeaderGenerator".

It took less than 52 minutes to make (total elapsed time 51 minutes and 26 seconds).

This was the second banner that I made using Armand Morin's HeaderGenerator software and the reason it took that long had more to do with my pickiness in selecting text fonts and font colors than with any slowness on the part of the program.

Creating This Page's Header Was Easy!

Let me explain exactly what I did to make this page's header. But first...

You need to know that the program was bought by me a couple of weeks earlier and it was installed onto my computer's hard drive before I made my first header (you'll learn more about that first header later in this review). So, this time around...

I didn't have to spend any time installing the program before making this review's header.

Oh, by the way, installing the program was straight forward and I had no problems. The instructions were both straightforward and user friendly. Also, the installation wizard...

did all of the work for me.

Here's the timeline...

I opened the HeaderGenerator program by double clicking on its icon at precisely 12:56 p.m..

Within two minutes I had chosen a background image from a list of over 340 stored background images. Counting all those images for this review took a couple of minutes that were not directly related to making the header.

I started step #2 at 12:58 p.m. and it took me until 1:05 p.m. to settled on a proper combination of font, font size, text color and position for my website's name. I picked a white text to contrast sufficiently against the dark background in the lower left corner of the header.

By 1:37 p.m. I had decided on the headline and subheadline copy. That took me the most amount of time since I hadn't thought about this part of the "header making project" before jumping into it.

And, since I had to try different combinations of   font styles, sizes, colors and positions, it took me longer than I had originally expected.

Before naming the file and saving it I did a little online research to decide whether I wanted to save the header image as a jpg or gif file. I chose to save it as a gif image.

I named the file "headerbanner600X115.gif" and saved it to a special folder on my hard drive from which I could later upload the image to my web server via ftp.

The 600 and 115 numbers in the image's file name remind me that I'll usually specify the image size as having a width of 600 pixels and a height of 115 pixels.

The first banner that I made, using this "graphical header generating" program, can be found at the top of the page at www.sellinfoproductsonline.com/site_map.html.

In the past, I've paid professional graphic design artists as much as $120 to create headers for me.

While the least amount that I paid was $60 in every case it took days from the time of ordering the header and receiving an acceptable final product.

This is what usually happened when I ordered headers from a Graphic Design Artist

I would begin by sending an email to the graphic artist containing all the information about the header I wanted.

In this first communication I mentioned the kind of background image and colors that I expected, the text fonts and colors, special arrangements of the text relative to the whole header design.

The graphic artist would then acknowledge receipt of the email commission and ask for me to clarify any particulars in my order.

By the time I responded a day or more could have elapsed.

Usually within 1 or 2 days the artist would send me a sample image for my approval. If it was acceptable the artist would send me a finished version of the image file and that would be it. But,

If the image needed fine-tuning there would be a back and forth exchange that would take place until both of us were satisfied with the header and I gave the final "O.K." for delivery.

The shortest time for delivering a header via this "commissioned-based method" was never less than 48 hours and the longest took over a week because of complications and previous work-load commitments on the part of the graphic design artist.

Compare the 48 hour turn-around time with the "less than 1 hour" that it took me to get exactly what I wanted and it will not come as a surprise to you to know that I really prefer using the HeaderGenerator program.

Not only that, but the one-time fee to get control of the program and make unlimited numbers of headers was less than $120.

What do I think of HeaderGenerator?

Is the program perfect? No, but it produces results that are just as good as the results I've gotten from my graphic design artists.

Are there graphic design artists out there who can produce nicer results than

  1. the artists I've hired before and/or
  2. HeaderGenerator?

Maybe, but I don't know who they are or how to get in touch with them.

So, in the meantime, I'm sticking with HeaderGenerator for my immediate header needs.

Having said that, there are several things about the program that I would change if I had the power to do so.

And here they are:

1st: It would be nice to be able to save headers made with the program in such a way so they could be retrieved within the program to act as jumping-off points in designing future headers.

In this way you could use pre-selected fonts and font sizes and colors, that were already chosen to match and contrast sufficiently with the header's background, and simply change text.

2nd: Maybe there's a way to do this, but I haven't figured it out yet, but whenever I used the Text Layer Dialog Menu (it appears when adding text in step 2 of the 3
